NATIVE PLANT SALVAGE Desierto Verde provides a full range of services for developers, landscapers and anyone wishing to retain or enhance the native vegetation on their project site. Central to our total services package is a unique boxing and storage methodology we originated in the early 1980s.
Before our Boxing Methodology innovation, beautiful native trees like the Ironwood, Palo Verde and Mesquite were routinely destroyed. Since our breakthrough, more than 240,000 plants have been saved, creating gorgeous, mature looks for our clients’ projects.
A Full Service Process Our full service process begins with a plant inventory to determine which plants on your site can be salvaged. Next, if required, we assist with city submittals and obtain permits. The actual boxing process requires 4-6 weeks to maximize survival of the trees. After boxing, we provide nursery setup and full plant maintenance for the duration of site construction. Finally, our replant services incorporate the salvaged plant material into the new landscape design.
The Desierto Verde Boxing Methodology is the accepted standard for municipal plant salvage ordinances throughout Arizona. We have offered consultation for arid-region revegetation in the United States, Mexico, and South America.
Our innovative methodology includes:
- A custom tree shaping technique recognizable for its attention to the natural form and beauty of each specimen. Individual aesthetic character is enhanced and more foliage is maintained for better tree health.
- Our primary manual boxing method eliminates the breakage of lower limbs and minimizes root ball disturbances, thus allowing us to put a larger tree in a smaller box. This equates to savings in handling and planting without sacrificing our 100% guarantee.
- The salvaged plant material will be stored in an onsite holding yard where it will be maintained by our plant health care department until you notify us to replant it.
